Nonviolent Direct Action at the Gates of the Naval Base Kitsap/Bangor
Nonviolent Direct Action at the Gates of the Naval Base Kitsap/Bangor- May 10th 12:30 PM
The Kitsap/Bangor Naval base is 20 miles west of Seattle and home to the largest active nuclear weapons depot on the West Coast, housing 2,364 nuclear warheads. Trident Submarines carrying Trident missiles are likely to be used first in any nuclear attack. The D-5 missiles are equipped to carry either 100kt or 455kt of nuclear force (the Hiroshima bomb was 14kt) and can travel over 1,370 miles in less than 13 minutes allowing for a U.S. nuclear strike anywhere on the planet within 15 minutes. This Naval submarine base presently houses more nuclear warheads than the countries of England, France, China, India, Pakistan and North Korea combined.
Please join Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action to help "Mom says no nukes! Abolish Trident! Create Hope for the Children!" This group developed a schedule for the day's events with support for arrestees and direct action training. Bob Baledel needs folks to share the cost of fuel for this direct action protest. Please call him at 503.658.7450 if you want to carpool. For more information about the day's events, go to www.gzcenter.org or call 360.377.2586
