From Corner To Center is more than an art show: it is a window into
Portland's day labor community. Each morning, day laborers gather at
the hire site to organize and seek work. Join us as we transform the
walls of the hire site into the walls of a gallery. Complete with
photography, paintings, drawings and ceramics, this art show is
entirely made by the workers who come to the site. Pieces from the show
include candid portraits of life spent waiting for jobs, painted
cityscapes, and interpretations of dreams and cultural longing. Enjoy
music and dancing, and grab a cup of Mexican hot chocolate and
traditional sweet bread.
